After almost 2 years numerous setbacks, problems and disasters, I have finally finished the 3 guitars I have been working on. The photos are so bad, I'm almost ashamed to post them, but here goes anyway.
They are:
Dred - Engleman/EIR
Dred - Ad/Mahogany
OM - Sitka Bearclaw/Walnut

Great work! And I really like the position markers.

Very nice looking guitars there. Your fretboard markers are the same as the pin stock I use in my knife handles. I'd thought about doing that on my guitars, but now that you have, I won't.

Jimmie, nice work! Good to see you out from under the pile and all 3 finished! I too really like the position markers...how thick are they? Are they metal or wood? I like the bound soundhole and wood rosette too!

Larry

Great work! Very nice, you should be proud of them. What kind of finish did you use?

Thanks everyone for the comments. I have taken them to a couple of jams and have gotten very favorable comments on the sound. The sound from the OM really surprises people. My instructor AB'd the OM with his D28 and the Om was louder and had a more even tone. Now he wants me to make him one.

Jeff, I used Behlen's Instrument laquer. I liked it pretty well.

Jerry, I knew you would catch the postition markers. I used to fool around with knifemaking a little. A guy at he Knifemakers Guild show in Kansas City about 23 years ago showed me how to make those. It's really not that hard and the designs you can make are limited only by you imagination.

Larry, the dots are about the same thickness as MOP and they're just brass tubing and colored epoxy. I put just a tiny drop of lacquer on them with a toothpick to keep them from oxidizing.

When I saw the posting "bluegrass tri" I thought mando, banjo & guitar. What a nice suprise to find three great looking guitars! I bet they sound as good as they look! Catch you in a jam somewhere! I`m going to a festival next week at grapeland Tx.

This might be an easier way to make them...

Texas Knifemakers Supply

Look under Mosaic Pins.

I tried making my own once. That was the most expensive $25 I ever saved!
